Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") cover your use of Route Marshal, the motorcycle trip planner at routemarshal.app, and its related pages, group-ride links and services (together, the "Service"). "Route Marshal," "we," "us" and "our" mean the operator of the Service. By using the Service or creating an account, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

Short version: Route Marshal helps you plan. It does not ride for you. Fuel stops, times, weather and roads can be wrong or change. You are responsible for checking everything and for every decision you make on the road.

1. Who can use Route Marshal

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or buy anything. By using the Service you confirm that you are 18 or older and able to agree to these Terms.

2. Testing phase

Route Marshal is currently in a testing phase. Features, free-plan limits, prices and how things work may change, sometimes without notice. Things may break, and saved data could be lost. Keep your own copy of anything important, such as receipts you need for a ride certification.

3. What Route Marshal is — and isn't

Route Marshal is a planning aid. It suggests routes, fuel stops, rest breaks, overnight stops, timing, costs and weather information using third-party data such as OpenStreetMap, Geoapify, the National Weather Service and Open-Meteo. That data can be incomplete, outdated or wrong. Stations may be closed, out of fuel or missing. Roads may be closed, unpaved, under construction or unsuitable for your motorcycle, skill level or load. Times, distances, costs and forecasts are estimates.

Route Marshal is not a navigation system, a safety system, an emergency service, a legal authority or a substitute for your own judgment. Do not use or interact with the Service while operating a motorcycle or any vehicle.

4. Riding at your own risk

Motorcycle riding is dangerous and can result in serious injury or death. You alone are responsible for deciding whether, when, where and how to ride; for checking your route, fuel stops, weather, road conditions and your fuel level; for the condition of your motorcycle and gear; for riding within your ability; and for obeying all traffic laws. You voluntarily assume all risks connected with any ride you plan or take using the Service.

5. Your account

You log in with a one-time code sent to your email. Keep access to your email secure, because anyone who can read it can log in as you. Give us an accurate email address, and tell us at support@routemarshal.app if you think someone else has accessed your account. Accounts are for one person and may not be shared or sold.

6. Free plan, trials and paid features

Free plan. Free use has limits (for example, a number of new trips per week and re-routes per trip, and a cap on saved rides). We may change these limits at any time.
Trials. New accounts may get a free trial of full features. When it ends, your account moves to the free plan. Rides over the free limit are hidden, not deleted, and come back if you regain full access.
Paid features. Prices are shown before you buy. Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider (such as Stripe), and sales tax may be added where required. If a plan renews automatically, we'll say so at checkout, and you can cancel any time before it renews. Refunds follow our Refund Policy.
We may offer, change or discontinue free or paid features. If we discontinue a paid subscription you've paid for, we'll refund the unused portion.

7. Group rides

Group-ride plans are shared by link. Anyone who has the link can see the plan and what riders add to it, such as names, bikes, starting areas, meet-up spots and notes. Only share the link with people you trust, and only add information you're comfortable sharing with the group. Each rider is responsible for their own riding and decisions; a group organizer is not responsible for other riders, and neither are we.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of what you add to the Service, such as trips, notes, receipt photos, odometer readings and group-ride details ("Your Content"). You give us permission to store, copy, process and display Your Content only as needed to run and improve the Service and to show it to you and to anyone you share it with. You're responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to upload it. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you.

9. Acceptable use

Don't: break the law using the Service; try to get around usage limits, payments or security; access other people's accounts or data; use bots, scrapers or automated tools to use or copy the Service; overload or interfere with the Service or the services it relies on; resell or redistribute the Service or its data; or upload anything harmful, illegal or that you don't have the right to share.

10. Third-party services and links

The Service relies on and links to third parties, including map, routing, weather, email, hosting and payment providers, and buttons that open Google Maps or Waze. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or terms. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. Route Marshal is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any ride-certification organization, fuel brand or map provider.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted or secure, or that any route, fuel stop, time, cost or forecast will be correct.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Route Marshal and its owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any personal injury, death, property damage, running out of fuel, delays, lost data or other loss arising from or related to the Service or any ride you plan or take, even if we were told it could happen. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $50.

Some places don't allow certain limits on liability, so some of these may not apply to you.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold Route Marshal and its owner harmless from claims, losses and costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your rides, Your Content, or your breaking these Terms or the law.

14. Ending your use

You can stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account and data, email support@routemarshal.app. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, misuse the Service, or if we stop offering it. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 4, 8, 11, 12, 13 and 16) survive after your access ends.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, let you know on the site or by email. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the new Terms.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in El Paso County, Colorado, and you and we consent to those courts. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
